Welcome to 5th Grade

Dear Families,

 

Welcome to 5th grade! I am excited about the opportunity to teach your students. We will start the year working on learning procedures & routines, discussing and following our core beliefs (we all belong, we all learn & service makes us stronger), getting to know each other & building our classroom community, and inquiring about the many new and interesting concepts we will cover this year.  I have three goals I would like to accomplish this year.

1. I want to help your students feel confident in their abilities and understand that they can do hard things. I will be teaching them how to set goals and work hard to accomplish them. I believe that when we work together and are on the same page, we set them up for success. Please talk with your students about what they hope to achieve this year!

2. I want to prepare your student for middle school. I will teach them how to plan and be organized, but it will ultimately be up to them to complete their assignments and turn them in on time. Additionally, we will focus on various life skills (active listening, critical thinking, self-confidence, etc.), and other aspects of social-emotional learning. I believe this is just as important as the curriculum and I hope my efforts help your student not only succeed this year, but for years to come.

3. My last goal is for you and your students to know that I love and respect them. My teaching philosophy consists of high love and high expectations. I will be your child’s #1 cheerleader, but I will push them to reach their full potential, feel empowered, capable and confident. I am excited about working together and have an incredible year!
